The Chinese in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Singapore commemorate Ullambana Day on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month. Ullambana Day originated from Bhuddhist’s Teachings, one of which is titled “Mulian saves his Mother”.
Taoists and Confucians believe that Ullambana instils compassion and filial piety. The Ullamnbana ceremony is also believed to help one reduce his or her karmic debts and accumulate good karma. It also encourages one to honour and remember their ancestors and to ask for blessings.
Ang Chin Moh Funeral Directors has been organising this annual Ullambana Day ceremony since 2012 at Mount Vernon Sanctuary. This event is free and exclusively for families that we have served before. It is our way of giving back to the society and to the families who has always been showing their support for us.
